Do you know how to make a shabby chic storage bench from and old sideboard? We will show you how. But firstly, you know that a storage bench serves as a functional piece of furniture in many areas of the home. So, whether it is in an entryway or mudroom, a storage bench will act as the perfect catch-all for daily clutter. You can also usually find a storage bench in kids’ room to store toys and games or craft supplies. They can be kept in one easy-to-access place. Having a shabby chic storage is easier to make since all you have to do is only making it aged. Here are to do so.
First, you should completely remove the sideboard’s legs using a power saw if the legs are not screwed onto the bottom of the sideboard. When you think the legs are removed from the sideboard, you can consider attaching four natural or unfinished screw-mounted bun-footed furniture legs which can be found at hardware stores right to the bottom of your sideboard. You can then remove any hardware from the sideboard’s drawers or cabinet doors. You can start making the shabby chic storage as a pricey investment.
Second, you can prepare the workspace by placing a drop cloth on the floor and use a medium grade sandpaper to prepare the sideboard for painting. Sand it in gentle strokes, but you still have to aim for creating a rough surface instead of removing all of the paint. Wipe it from the dust and you can start painting it.
Third, you start painting it with two coats of white paint primer if the finished storage bench is white or cream after that you should allow it to dry thoroughly. In two coats of water-based paint, you can paint the sideboard and allow it to dry between coats. Using white paint for a shabby chic feel, you can consider using a bright color like off-whites collection colors. That is how you obtain a shabby chic storage bench from sideboard.
