Have you ever thought about painting your dining table? Not a new dining table, rather an old antique treasure that you find in your local thrift store travel. You can bring back its glory days by thinking about changing it into painted dining tables. You can follow these steps to change your old vintage dining table into a new expensive one. This alternative shouldn’t be missed by you, especially if you know the price of a brand new dining table is almost $2,000 and that is not necessary if you can paint it using your creativity. Don’t forget to give it a final touch; varnish which will add another layer of protection and make your table looks shiny and easier to clean. This will be the easiest and least expensive way to have a brand new dining table. Don’t be afraid because the finish look may surprise you. Here are some instructions to do that.
First, you can place a drop cloth under your table to catch any drips of paint. You have to sand the table if the surface is glossy. Using a tack cloth, you can wipe the table. After that, using the mixture of detergent and water in a bucket, you can make a diluted cleanser in which can be used to remove any dust. Before applying primer, you have to allow the table to dry.
Second, you can select the appropriate primer for the surface, like a primer which is usually designed for metal or raw wood surfaces or a universal primer. After that you can brush on in the same direction as the wood grain and then smooth out the drips and the thick primer areas.
Third, you can wash the primer brush, using alcohol to remove shellac-based primer, and then follow the priming process with a compatible paint like oil-based paint. It is a good choice to be applied all over your painted dining tables. You can apply two thin of paint. But you have to allow the paint to dry in between coats by following the manufacturer’s specifications. Last step, you have to be sure the paint is completely dry before sealing it using varnish.
